Definitions and When To Hire Who:
Graphic design, also known as communication design, is the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content. The form of the communication can be physical or virtual, and may include images, words, or graphic forms. A Graphic Designer will usually work on printed projects but may have experience in working with web based projects. Hire a Graphic Designer if you have a print project.
Web design is a similar process of creation, with the intention of presenting the content on electronic web pages, which the end-users can access through the internet with the help of a web browser. Hire a Web Designer to design your website. Not all Web Designers will have the ability to code for you.
A web developer is a programmer who specializes in, or is specifically engaged in, the development of World Wide Web applications, or distributed network applications that are run over HTTP from a webserver to a web browser. Each Web Developer will have their own skill level, experience and special focuses. Make sure to have a good idea of how you want your website to function so your Web Developer will know if they have the skill set to accomplish your goals.
Consider your Web Designer the person that makes the pretty object and the Web Developer brings that object to life.
